See and taste the latest and greatest during the 2017 Let Them Eat Cake competition Sunday, March 5, at Millennium Ballroom at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel (1200 Market St., Philadelphia) starting at 6 p.m. More than 35 master pastry chefs will roll out next generation extravaganzas as they pit their baking skills against one another. Variety Children’s Charity is hosting the event, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting its numerous programs that assist special needs kids. For the first time in the competition’s history, some of those children will enter their own sugary creations in the competition.
The multi-tiered wedding cakes will be judged on taste and presentation. This year’s theme is a Variety of Childhood Fun and Fantasy. The event annually draws 1,000 hungry people who will indulge in as much cake as their sweet tooth allows. Variety will even provide a box for guests to tote home the leftovers.
General admission tickets are $40 per person and include samples of cakes from more than 35 of the area’s best pastry chefs, live music and unlimited wine tastings.
