Green Thumbs Sprout at Mason Dixon Distillery

At Mason Dixon Distillery in Gettysburg, guests will find small-batch spirits in addition to an intriguing menu at its restaurant. What makes the menu at the Mason Dixon Distillery dining area even more enticing? An onsite vegetable garden producing the seasonal fresh vegetables which make their way from garden to table.

Mason Dixon DistilleryThe vegetable garden is located behind the distillery and tended to thanks to the joint effort of Lori Korczyk of Savor Gettysburg Food Tours and Jayne Shord of Beech Springs Farm, who plant and harvest the vegetables. The seasonal vegetables which grow in the Mason Dixon Distillery garden include beets, radishes, heirloom tomatoes, squash, carrots, peppers and more. In addition to the aforementioned garden fresh items, there are also herbs and fig trees included in this encompassing backyard garden.

“The freshness of harvesting produce the same day that it will be prepared is without equal,” states Yianni Barakos, co-owner of Mason Dixon Distillery. “Our plantings are all heirloom varietals which yields us produce with tremendous flavor especially when compared to their hybrid counterparts.”

When patrons stop in to enjoy a Mason Dixon Distillery cocktail and meal, they can appreciate the added notion that the food and drink menus are all enhanced with garden-to-table ingredients.

The garden is up and running, with bountiful produce being harvested from mid-to-late spring through fall, until the first frost hits.
