Coming This Summer to Gettysburg: The Distelfink, Refurbished as an Ice Cream Shop

There are big plans for Gettysburg’s local landmark The Distelfink, known for its distinctive bird-shaped neon sign at Old Harrisburg and Shrivers Corner.

Everyone will be flocking to The Distelfink this summer when it reopens as an ice cream shop!

Owned by David and Melissa Stremmel, a husband-and-wife team from Biglerville, The Distelfink is undergoing demolition of the additions to the original building in preparation of refurbishing the space. The restoration will have a “retro feel” with the goal of creating an old-time ice cream shop. When the family-friendly shop opens this summer, there will be walk-up service and outdoor seating. Indoor seating may be added later, but it’s not included in plans for the initial build out.

Stay tuned to PA Eats, as we’ll be sure to update you on all The Distelfink news in the coming months!

You’ll find The Distelfink at 2699 Old Harrisburg Rd. in Gettysburg.
