Don’t you just love stumbling into a perfectly preserved slice of history? That’s exactly what you’ll find during a visit to Bube’s Brewery, an intact historic 19th-century brewery in Mt. Joy, PA, in Lancaster County. Founder Alois Bube started the small brewery and Victorian hotel in 1876 and by the turn of the century had solidified his reputation as a great brewer and businessman. After Mr. Bube’s sudden death in 1908 at the age of 57, and through Prohibition, his family was able to live in the buildings and made very few cosmetic or structural changes. The buildings began undergoing restoration in 1968, a project which continues to this day.
The charming building, from its dark and cozy Catacombs to the sunny outdoor Biergarten, offers an incredible experience for visitors and locals alike.
