Local is the name of the game at Harvest Valley Farms in Gibsonia. This PA Preferred® member family farm grows and harvests over 80 different varieties of fruits and vegetables, picking daily for peak freshness and selling within 25 miles of the farm.
Co-Owner Art King is a strong supporter of the PA Preferred program. “Having a brand associated with PA Agriculture is essential,” he says. “People need to know that they are buying a product that was grown in PA. At our Farm Market we pride ourselves at carrying local products, and it has proven to be an important aspect for our customers time and time again.”

PA Eats: What excites you about the future of Harvest Valley Farms?
Art King: My son, David, is taking over. I am excited for him to take this business to the next level. We have purchased a business nearby and are moving our farm market there. It is 50% larger than our current farm market. Our current market has 13 parking spots and the new market will have 50 parking spots. The future for Harvest Valley Farm Market and Bakery is very exciting.
What are your most popular products?
Tomatoes and lettuce are our most popular products. Our tomatoes taste 100% better than any tomatoes our customers can buy in the local grocery store. That’s one of the reasons we grow 21 different varieties of tomatoes. They like our lettuce because it is way fresher, much more tender, and keeps for two weeks in their refrigerator.
What sets your farm or business apart?
We pride ourselves in knowing how to make fruits and vegetables look better. Our quality is the most important aspect of our products and we go out of our way to make sure it is perfect. We have a special tiny sign that goes on all of the fruits and vegetables that we grow ourselves. Our customers look for that “HVF Grown” sign because they know they are getting the best.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Being a member of the Pennsylvania Preferred program is a no brainer. We want all of our customers, present and future, to know that we grow the fruits and vegetables we sell.
You can find Harvest Valley Farms products at its new farm market location starting late March, 2025 at 5820 William Flynn Highway, Bakerstown and the PA Preferred Monroeville Farmers Market, which runs May through November.
