Mr. Zero Proof Shares 4 NA Winter Drink Recipes

There are innumerable non-alcoholic drink options these days, making events like Dry January and happy hour even more refreshing. In recent years, we’ve seen an explosion of canned NA beers and cocktails, dealcoholized wine and other zero proof elixirs hit the market. But there’s something extra special about a thoughtfully designed and hand crafted mixed drink. Jesse Andreozzi, aka Mr. Zero Proof, is a zero proof cocktail connoisseur and sober sommelier who creates such beverages for restaurants, bars, NA bottle shops and consumers across PA. Andreozzi shared four beautiful mocktail and NA cocktail recipes with us for embracing zero-proof mixology through the winter season with PA-sourced ingredients.

Mr. Zero Proof, Jesse Andreozzi

Andreozzi has been in the service industry for over 20 years. He says, “Working in the industry, I struggled with alcohol for years. Four years ago, I did a Dry January on a bet and it changed my life forever. I’m coming up on four years alcohol free. I now do whatever I can do to progress the zero proof movement and change peoples mindset on non-alcoholic beverages. I’m able to do that with my work with St. Agrestis Phony Negroni. I love spreading the word of zero proof options.”

These four recipes incorporate ingredients you can find across PA including herbs, fruit, juice and non-alcoholic specialty items. They include a mocktail, a drink containing juices and/or syrups, zero proof cocktailw with no trace of alcohol and a non-alcoholic cocktail with trace amounts of less than 0.5% spirit.

Winter Fuzz

Winter Fuzz mocktail.

Like winterberries, the Winter Fuzz adds a splash of color to a cold, gray day. It’s bright and tart, made with a PA-made Sundry Morning shrub like Cherry Time Bomb or Rhubarb sour, or pomegranate/cranberry juice from your local grocer. Woodsy, piney rosemary simple syrup and garnish help tone the acidity for a beautifully balanced sip.

  • 1/2 oz. rosemary simple syrup (fresh rosemary simmered with equal parts sugar and water)
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup tonic water
  • 1 sprig of fresh rosemary

Method

Mix the ingredients in a Collins glass and top with tonic water. Add a rosemary sprig as garnish.

Phony Spritz

Phony spritz.

The Phony Spritz combines the uniquely herbal-bitter-citrus flavors of Negroni with the effervescent fruit of sparkling NA wine. It’s a real crowd-pleaser that answers the call for something distinct and complex while also being easy to drink.

Easton Cosmo

A non-alcoholic Easton Cosmopolitan.
We love this PA-proud cosmopolitan, inspired by Easton’s Tonic non-alcoholic bottle shop, sibling shop to Green Vida Company juicery. It’s bold and punchy, like any proper cosmo, with the unexpectedly delightful flavor of blueberry and smooth, cool undertones of mint, ginger and lime.
