New and Improved Train Station Coming to Downingtown, Plus Rooftop Dining

Although we love and adore the city as it currently stands, Downingtown is about to get a little bit sweeter thanks to great news from Mayor Josh Maxwell. He recently addressed the public with good news about the much anticipated plan to build a new and improved train station and the dining scene will invite a new friend as well.

PennDot has announced  that they are proceeding and a new station at 322 and Boot Road will be constructed in the center of Downingtown.  This is very exciting news to many as it will be centrally located and handicap accessible; additionally, because the entire Amtrak line is going high-speed, Downingtown residents can look forward to shorter trips to New York, Washington DC and Baltimore.  A newer station also means one that is cleaner, more energy efficient and easier to use.

While the new facility is built, funding will attempt to be leveraged so that the neighborhood of Johnsontown and western Downingtown communities- the station’s former home- continue to move forward. The investment of an Amtrak/Train Station is likely to give the city of Downingtown a competitive advantage for decades to come.

In foodie news for Downingtown, Molly Maguire’s will be joining the neighborhood thanks to the preservation and restoration of the current 100 year-old stone fire hall building. The soon-to-be three-story restaurant will boast rooftop dining and make six rooms available to let.  Currently found in Phoenixville and Lansdale, the Irish Restaurant and Pub will add a special flare to the already bustling dining scene of Downingtown. If you want to have a trial period of the rooftop dining, head on over to their Phoenixville location and dine “up top.”

Residents and locals have much to look forward to!
