We welcome you to join the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) on Friday evening, September 26, 2008 at the first Harvest Celebration to be held at Longwood Gardens as we take time to applaud the bounty of local foods available in the Southeastern region of our state.
We’ll begin enjoying drinks and appetizers in the Idea Garden at 6PM, while the evening sun illuminates the beauty of the annual and perennial flowers, roses, vegetables, fruits, ornamental grasses and container gardens. All the while, captivating live acoustic music will enhance this enchanting experience. We’ll also commemorate the 25th anniversary of the White Dog Café with an award presentation to founder and food activist Judy Wicks who is an inspiration to so many people.
Philadelphia’s own Bluecoat Gin (the first new American distillery since Prohibition) will offer samples of their extraordinary gin and unveil their latest libation, “Penn 1681” vodka. Be among the first to taste this extraordinary concoction.
Next we’ll wander into the elaborate Longwood Ballroom for a multi-course sit down dinner featuring sumptuous preparations of duck, chicken, pork and fresh fruits & vegetables from PASA farm members. Chester County’s Stargazer Winery will be serving their wines with dinner. A maple tinged dessert, suggesting the arrival of fall, concludes the dinner menu on a sweet note.
There will be ample time throughout the evening to stroll among the gardens and enjoy the seasonal beauty of Longwood where the landscapes glow with shades of yellow, orange, purple, and red trees. Attire suitable for garden walks and beautiful late summer evenings is suggested.
