Nineteen degrees, snow and wind couldn’t keep beer-loving ladies away from Victory Brewing Company’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Suds” Paint Night. The Downingtown beer hall was packed for the reinvented art class.
Aspiring artists settled in front of their easels to take fun instruction from Jackie Schneider of Chiquita Paints. A former art teacher, she relishes helping people let their “artsy” out at fun events for bachelorette parties, date nights, guys’ night out (GNO isn’t just for girls!), kiddy parties, bars and restaurants and even retirement homes. The best part (besides the beer and snacks)? Everyone leaves with a handmade souvenir.
With a paintbrush in one hand and beer and snacks in the other, the “Girls Just Wanna Have Suds” crew discovered their inner artists—and a few tasty and simple beer pairings.
Bust Out These Winning Combos for Your Next GNO
Goat Cheese and Cranberry Crostini with Prima Pils
Heaps of whole-flower European hops and German malts give this German pilsner its herbally bite and smooth finish, a perfect match for creamy goat cheese. It cut through the rich cheese, and its fruit notes came out with each bite of cranberry.
Bean and Corn Quesadillas with Blackboard Agave IPA
The first of Victory’s new Blackboard Series is this crisp IPA with grapefruit. It’s bold with just a touch of sweet agave and a light bite at the finish. This new brew tamed the slightly spicy, hearty quesadilla.
Mini Crab Cakes with Headwaters Pale Ale
Complex herbal hops are married with just-the-right malts in this American pale ale. Its soft lemon aromas and earthy flavors were a perfect match for savory crab. The mini cakes were more crab than filling and topped with a spicy surprise that worked well with refreshing Headwaters.
Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce and Hop Devil IPA
Victory calls this brew Menacingly Delicious™—and they aren’t kidding. Big and bold with a hint of spice, it stood up to the rich peanut sauce slathered on tenderly grilled chicken skewers. A bite, a sip—perfection!
Panko Encrusted Mini Meatballs with Longwood Honey Wheat
There’s a touch of honey and biscuit flavors in this refreshing amber wheat ale. They played well with the crisp crust and balsamic glaze on the hearty meatball—and the mild hops were a great choice to tango with the flavorful pork-beef small bite.
Did you miss the girls’ night out? Luckily, Victory has a packed calendar of events for girls and guys at its three brewpubs—Downingtown, Parkesburg and Kennett Square—throughout the area and across the country. So many delicious ways to taste Victory!
