Sip + Splash

There comes a time every winter, right around the end of January, when it feels simply impossible that summer will ever arrive again. And yet, every year, the spring rains chase away the frost, the gardens burst with life, and finally, one day — might be before the solstice, might be after — you just sense and feel it. Maybe it’s the slight difference of the light coming through the shades in the morning; maybe it’s when putting on a pair of jeans becomes a total no-go. Could be the first night you hear kids outside playing, long after dinner time, or the wink of a firefly between the rosemary and lilac bushes.

Summer has arrived, and we’re ready to revel in it! Throughout July and August, PA Eats is all about staying hydrated and staying cool with our new theme, “Sip + Splash.” Iced tea, cold brew coffee, cocktails and cider — we’re reaching for, and diving into, frosty and refreshing things to help us battle the infamous East Coast humidity. And, speaking of those refreshments, we’ll be telling their makers’ stories along the way. To us, even just the sound of ice cubes clinking in a glass is enough to bring our internal temperature down a few degrees — and we’re looking forward to sharing those chill vibes with you!

We’re also planning on enjoying the water whenever we can in July and August, from spraygrounds to secret swimming holes to serene lakes. Want to find the closest place to splash around? We’ll tell you where to go. And, like so many of our friends and neighbors, we’ll also be heading down to the shore for a day-trip or weekend, here and there, and we promise to share plenty of ideas about where to eat, drink, play and stay at the beautiful Mid-Atlantic beaches.

So, crank up the AC, crack open a bottle of something cold, and follow along as we “sip and splash” our way through the summer!
