On Sunday, July 29th, noon – 6 p.m., Black Walnut Winery of the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail will toast to three years of success by hosting an anniversary soiree that’ll feature complimentary wine tastings, incredible Bridge Street Chocolates, and much more.
Black Walnut Winery, owned and operated by Lance and Valerie Castle and Jack and Karen Kuhn, began back in 2001 when they invited their friends to join them as they processed 500 pounds of grapes for their ‘unofficial’ first crush under a canopy of Black Walnut trees at the Kimberton home of Lance and Valerie. This very quickly became an annual event and led to talk of opening a winery.
In 2006, that dream became a wine-infused reality when the partnering couples chose a 200-year-old Chester County bank barn on Lincoln Highway as their home. After a few years of renovating and sprucing, they debuted within the local wine market in July of 2009 making a huge splash, quickly building a name for themselves as a winery that has “redefined Pennsylvania wine,” nabbing Pennsylvania Wine Competition awards and becoming a well-known name among wine-loving households of Chester County and beyond.
