Fresh Maryland Crab Fests Slated to Unfold This Fall at Local Wegmans

Whether you are dining in or getting it to go, Wegmans  has always been a step above. This Fall of 2012, through October, they are hosting a fabulous seasonal Crab Fest. Diners craving a fresh taste of Maryland crabs will need not travel any further than their Malvern, Collegeville or NEW King of Prussia location to take advantage of this tasty seafood offering. Working with Maryland’s Harris Crab House, the Wegmans stores will present fresh, live and steamed blue crabs outside on the patio. Guests can pre-order crabs to take home or stay and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

It doesn’t get any fresher than this according to Kathy Haines, director of Wegmans in-store restaurants and Market-Cafes, since the crabs are taken from the water, put into their truck and literally driven right to Wegman’s door, where they are steamed and poured out on picnic tables for Crab Fest.

Crab Fest will be held at Wegmans locations across the region, including:  Collegeville on Sunday, September 9th and Saturday, October 27th;  King of Prussia on Sunday, September 16th;  and Malvern on Sunday, October 7th.  Beginning at noon and continuing until 5 p.m., Harris Crab House will park their truck in front of the store and serve steamed crabs to guests on the patio. Crabs are $33 per dozen, and are also available by the ½ bushel ($79 for approximately 36 crabs) and the bushel ($150 for approximately 72 crabs).

Guests who prefer to take their crab feast to-go can pre-order them either live or steamed by contacting the Wegmans Catering Department; two days’ notice is required for any pre-order. Are you looking forward to tasting Chesapeake’s finest?
