It’s not every day we can truly use the word “unique” to describe something new on the food scene. But this—this is one of those times. Victory Brewing Company has partnered with West Chester–based artisan pasta maker Vera Pasta to create a beer-infused pasta.
Pasta alla Prima was created using Victory’s popular Prima Pils, malted barley and wort, a sweet, nonalcoholic liquid created during the brewing process. During the experimentation phase, Vera Pasta’s Joe D’Andrea, who’s been crafting creative pastas using traditional methods for more than three years, was pleased to discover that the honey notes from the wort, the heartiness of the grain and the hints of yeast from the beer melded seamlessly with the high-quality ingredients he prefers to use in his pastas. “We are thrilled to partner with Victory Brewing Company,” says D’Andrea. “With Victory’s commitment to brewing the highest quality beer and our artisanal approach to pasta, we’re proud to produce a product like Pasta alla Prima.”
The collaboration project made sense for Vera Pasta and Victory Brewing Company, both of whom value traditional methods of production and a healthy dose of innovation. Victory is constantly striving to source the highest-quality grain and hops, which is in line with Vera Pasta’s mission to use only the best all-natural ingredients.
Want a taste? (Sure you do!) This new gourmet pasta is being released in the Philadelphia area and is currently available at Green Aisle Grocery, local farmers’ markets and the Victory Brewing Company brewpub, located at 420 Acorn Lane in Downingtown. More retail outlets will be added as production increases.
