5 Things You Didn’t Know About Universal Studios’ CityWalk

Cowfish When people hear “Orlando,” Disney World is usually the first thing that comes to mind. But did you know Orlando is full of music, culture and some of the best cuisine in Florida? True story. And the epicenter of the most impressive culinary delights may be found at Universal Studios’ CityWalk.

Although many of the restaurants in town with the big-chain names cater to families, there is also an eclectic mix of high-caliber bistros backed by pace-setting chefs injecting their influence into the parks in this entertainment and nightlife district. Curious what top factors make CityWalk a must-visit destination? Discover our lineup below.

Movie-Themed Restaurants

Universal Studios is home to Harry Potter World, Jurassic Park, Islands of Adventure and more. But before you can be whisked away on a roller coaster, Universal’s CityWalk graces the entrance to the park. Each themed section of the park has restaurants suited to their themes—steaks in NYC, malts in old-time Beverly Hills, seafood in San Francisco, Duff Beer and burgers in Springfield, Pumpkin Juice and treacle in Harry Potter World, and so on.

Wide Array of International Options for All Palates

Encompassing several acres, Universal’s CityWalk caters to every taste and desire. Coffee? Ice Cream? Seared steak? Oysters? This park has it all, at all taste levels. Fine dining, excellent wines, craft beers, rich milkshakes, chicken satay or tamales, the “Walk” does a perfect job of including all palates.

Endless Entertainment

CityWalk is host to musical acts and performances. The one night we were there until closing, CityWalk hosted a high school carnival where all the local high schools participated in an after-prom party in a safe, no-drinking environment. I thought this was very cool. Plenty of fun food and drinks were on offer all night long.

Late-Night Activities

Bob Marley's

Many of the establishments are open until late night, so after exploring the parks you’re just getting started. You don’t even have to have a ticket for the theme park (and parking is cheaper if you come just for the CityWalk section), and into the party you’ll go. The party heats up after the sun goes down, with live music, DJs, dancing, tapas and more. It’s all the party you want, all in one place!

Restaurants, Restaurants & More Restaurants

Emeril's

Many famous chefs are proud to be a part of CityWalk. Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville features three bars and classic Florida cuisine: shrimp pasta, cheeseburger (in Paradise, of course!), mahi mahi, crab chowder and more. Frozen drinks and popular “Boat Drinks” add to the laid-back atmosphere.

Emeril Lagasse “kicks it up” with Creole-inspired dishes, a huge wine gallery and a cigar bar with a wall-sized humidor. Bring a big appetite and prepare to enjoy elegant Southern dining with an open kitchen to see the fine chefs at work.

Bob Marley–A Tribute to Freedom restaurant joins together amazing, flavorful food with rich, inspiring music. The place is a replica of Bob’s home on 56 Hope Road in Kingston, Jamaica, featuring photographs and artifacts from the artist’s life. The fresh, tasty food has a Jamaican vibe.

Also, don’t miss The Hot Dog Hall of Fame, Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, NBA City, Pat O’Brien’s, Hard Rock Café, Vivo Italian Kitchen, The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar and Red Oven Pizza Bakery.
