Big Changes for Bethlehem’s Christkindlmarkt This Year

Over the past two decades, Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem has delighted more than one million guests from near and far with its mix of unique gift ideas, old-world charm and holiday cheer. This dynamic festival celebrates the magic of the holidays with a five-week run that features more than 125 vendors each week.

The 2016 Christkindlmarkt, sponsored by ArtsQuest, is scheduled for Friday, November 18–Sunday, December 18. Hours are Thursdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. at The Steel Stacks (101 Founders Way in Bethlehem).

This year, guests will notice some changes to the event. The number of tents will double from two to four, allowing approximately 160 artisans and retailers to showcase their wares, a record number. In addition, Christkindlmarkt will be shining the spotlight on first-time vendors and their work. Each tent will also have its own unique holiday theme, with St. Nicholas getting a new home as he relocates from the artisan tent to the new Bavarian Christmas Village Tent.

Family friendly activities this year include ice sculpting and glass blowing demonstrations as well as a Crayola Creativity Station. Additionally, there is a full slate of performances and plenty of food vendors on site to keep you full and satisfied.

Kids can meet St. Nicholas and get a photo taken or eat breakfast with the jolly fellow.
