Gypsy Saloon Gets New Look, New Chef and New Menu

Gypsy Saloon in West Conshohocken, known for its cozy, eclectic flare and modern, approachable fare, has undergone a transformation.

Owners Kim Strengari and Marianne Gere have brought chef Tim Kane on board to help expand the menu to include dishes with more of a gastropub style as well as robust pasta dishes that are fit for sharing.

Kane, who has more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry, most recently worked as the executive chef at the Garrett Hill Ale House in Bryn Mawr and prior to that served as the sous chef at the General Warren Inne in Malvern.

Signature new items include blackened shrimp or ahi tuna tacos; crepe lasagna; homemade crab ravioli with saffron cream sauce, wild mushrooms and leeks; truffle fries with short rib, truffle oil, bleu cheese sauce and brown gravy; and more.

In addition to the new menu, Gypsy Saloon’s decor has also undergone a makeover. Making sure to keep the intimate, eccentric vibe that their loyal customers have come to love, Gere and Strengari selected a similar color palette only a few shades richer, but with more texture. Walls were also hand-painted with elegant floral stenciling for extra effect and light fixtures replaced with vintage-inspired hanging lanterns and blown glass bulbs.

“Gypsy Saloon has always been the hidden gem of Conshohocken, and we just felt it was time to give it a little polishing,” said Gere. “We didn’t make any dramatic changes, but customers will definitely appreciate the improvements. We are excited to show them off.”

Gypsy Saloon is located at 128 Ford St. in Conshohocken; phone: (610) 828-8494.
