Entrepreneurs Jeff Podlogar and Miles Butler have big plans to bring Germantown Espresso Bar to 26 Maplewood Mall near the intersections of Germantown and W. Chelten Avenues in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. According to their Kickstarter campaign:
“The Espresso Bar will be a fully operational cafe, brewing up delicious coffees both from here in Philadelphia as well as from around the country and even the world. We will consistently bring quality coffee to an area that has long gone under caffeinated. We will focus on only sourcing coffee from ethical suppliers that have a focus on fair or direct trade as well as environmentally conscious practices.”
“We want to take Germantown from being a neighborhood with out a coffee shop to the neighborhood with one of the best coffee shops in town. We will also serve goods from Philly favorites High Point Cafe, Weaver’s Way Co-op, The Random Tea Room, and more!”
Germantown Espresso Bar also plans to serve coffee from another Germantown area business, Publico Coffee. They envision a space where neighbors can meet, work and socialize. In conjunction the espresso bar, they also will have space for people to create and display artwork and an area to host live music events.
The business can’t come to fruition until they meet their Kickstarter goal, but they are close. Currently, they have raised in excess of $5000, but are hoping to raise $7000 by March 24.
