Want to plan the perfect holiday bash? Looking for a place to host an end-of-the-year work shindig or a high school reunion? Look no further—the historic Black Powder Tavern in Wayne is the ideal spot for a private party this holiday season.
Black Powder Tavern has two spaces for private dining and events. The Anthony Wayne Room, a semi-private dining room on the first floor, seats up to 50 guests, while the private George Washington Quarters upstairs seats up to 36 guests. Lunch and dinner are available in both rooms. If party organizers choose to serve guests individual entrées, options range from special Black Powder Tavern favorites like the Cajun mac-and-cheese, to classics like chicken marsala and New York strip steaks. For parties of more than 20 people, Black Powder Tavern can provide a buffet of delicious eats.
Of course, when you throw a party at Black Powder Tavern, you aren’t tied to the packages presented above. Black Powder Tavern prides itself on providing customized experiences for its guests.
“We are very flexible in the packages we can offer,” said Bottmeyer. “For example, if [guests] want more of a cocktail party or happy hour versus a sit-down dinner, we’re all for it. We can make anything happen.”
If you’d prefer a lower-key hang, Black Powder Tavern’s fabulous happy hour deals are a great option for catching up with friends and family. With two happy hours—a traditional one Monday through Friday from 5–7 p.m., and a special late-night happy hour Wednesday to Saturday from 9–10 p.m.—it’s double the fun! As Black Powder Tavern’s General Manager Bernie Bottmeyer said, “I would dare anyone to find a better one [happy hour] in our area. It’s always packed and has a great atmosphere.”
When you check out the happy-hour menu, you may be tempted by the BPT poutine, consisting of french fries smothered in short rib, cheddar cheese curds and lager gravy. Or, try the All-American cheeseburger, or the beer-baked pretzel sticks with ale mustard and Andouille cheese sauce. Looking for lighter options? The Margherita flatbread and the hummus platter do not disappoint.
Don’t forget the HH drinks! All draft beers are $5, and house wines and specialty martinis are $6 (there’s always a tempting list of seasonal additions).
Black Powder Tavern is open every day this holiday season, except for Christmas Day. No matter your schedule, Black Powder Tavern is ready to party when you are! But act fast—private party availability for the holidays and the new year is filling up quickly, so the sooner you book your event, the better.
