TALK, an acronym for Tim Andrew Lanza Kochan, is coming to 2121 Walnut Street this summer. The new restaurant from chef-partner Andrew Kochan of Marigold Kitchen will open in the space of the former L’Image Photography Studios.
Tim Lanza, Kochan’s partner at Marigold Kitchen, will be the executive chef and both will float between the two restaurants. Keith Krajewski will remain at Marigold Kitchen as the executive chef. Unlike Marigold Kitchen’s avant-garde tasting menus, TALK will offer an eclectic “New American” a la carte menu.
“Working with Tim has been an amazing experience and I couldn’t pick a better chef to run the kitchen at TALK,” explains owner Andrew Kochan. “We are both eager to be a part of the Rittenhouse scene and to finally be able to serve cocktails!”
TALK will have the look and feel of an early twentieth-century hotel bar. Its design will mirror the gothic style of the building’s facade, which is being refurbished. Black hardwood floors and wooden tables will contrast against a white marble bar with old-world comfortable seats and barstools. The dining room will seat approximately 55 with another 15 seats at the bar.
Lighting will be a featured element of the design with restored original wrought iron sconces that will line the hallways and adorn the bathroom walls. Two large hanging fixtures will welcome guests into the first two thirds of the space. Accent lighting will be achieved by using recessed strips. The mezzanine will largely be lit with natural light from the windows on the east wall and indirect lighting from the ceiling.
“TALK represents our biggest challenge yet, and we are incredibly excited to tackle it head on,” adds Kochan. “I have nothing but the utmost confidence in both Keith and Tim, and I cannot wait to see them put their stamps on these restaurants moving forward.”
Kochan is hoping for a July 1 opening. Stay tuned for a peek at the menu soon.
