Whoopie Pies Laced with Alcohol? Meet Boozy Pies!

Lancaster County’s Roots Market, which originated as a poultry auction in the 1920s, has developed into so much more since those early days. When you enter the market, you’re greeted with bakeries, delis, butchers, local and imported produce, crafts, jewelers, collectibles and antiques. And now, boozy whoopie pies.

Yes, you read that correctly. The Sweet Spot, a third-generation bakery, has created an intoxicatingly delicious treat for those of us who are over 21. Will they get you tipsy? Not necessarily. But there is about 1/3 of a shot of alcohol in each individual boozy pie.

With flavors like Mudslide, Cinnamon Toast, Bailey’s, Jack & Coke and Strawberry Daiquiri (the list goes on), there’s a flavor for every boozehound or dessert fiend on your list.

So the next time you’re at Roots picking up your weekly loot, add boozy pies to your shopping list. You won’t regret these insatiable, sauced sweets.

Roots is open every Tuesday during the following months:

  • April to October: 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
  • November to March: 9 a.m.–8 p.m.

You can find The Sweet Spot in Roots Market at 705 Graystone Rd. in Manheim; phone: (717) 799-1168.
