How’s this for a dream team? Delco’s 2SP Brewing Co. and Wawa have teamed up to create Winter Reserve Coffee Stout, set to launch on Monday, December 10. This oatmeal stout, steeped with Wawa’s new, limited-edition Winter Blend coffee, was brewed by 2SP’s award-winning head brewer, Bob Barrar, with help from Wawa’s Manager of Concept Development and “coffee guru” Michael McLaughlin. Crack open one of these tall boys to experience notes of sweet clove, dark chocolate and graham crackers.
Wawa’s Winter Blend is part of its Reserve line, small-batch, specialty-grade coffees made with beans carefully chosen according to overall cup quality, consistency and the unique characteristics of their country of origin. Throughout this year, coffees in this line have included Kenya AA, 100% Tanzania and Peru Amazonas. The Winter Reserve Stout harnesses the sweet roastiness of the blend for a 6.5% ABV, dark and flavorful beer with a “velvety mouthfeel,” according to Barrar.
“At Wawa, we are so proud to partner with and support our neighbors, especially through our exciting collaboration with the award-winning brewery, also based locally in our hometown of Delaware County, 2SP Brewing Company,” said Mike Sherlock, Chief Product Marketing Officer at Wawa. “We’re thrilled to team up with 2SP to create a Winter Reserve Coffee Stout using our new limited-edition Wawa Reserve Winter Blend, allowing us to add even more value to our customer experience just in time for the holidays.”
There are only 1,000 cases of Winter Reserve Coffee Stout cans available (no draft!), and it will be available at neighborhood bars, bottle shops and distributers in the five-county Philadelphia metro area.
“Collaborating with our neighbors at Wawa is a truly special experience,” said Michael Contreras, director of sales & marketing for 2SP. “For us, it is an opportunity to work with people that bring the best out in our community. We are from a region that is home to warriors for the working day. It is part of our morning ritual to get to Wawa for our morning coffee. No matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you do, Wawa brings together people from all walks [of life] and has achieved something of a mythical status because of the variety and quality it offers. In some small way, we try to do the same with our beers.”
