A new authentic Thai cafe opened recently in Drexel Hill: Green Herb Thai Cuisine. This tiny storefront, tucked into a small retail row on State Row is more of a takeout joint than a sit-down restaurant — the interior offers just a few tables, but does boast a BYOB policy, should you want to enjoy your eat-in meal with wine or beer. The menu offers lots of creative dishes with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, which isn’t always a given in small suburban spots.
Traditional favorites like chicken satay, larb, tom kha (coconut soup) and pad Thai are on offer, along with dishes you might not find in other no-frills Thai spots: bamboo stir fry, tamarind duck, deep fried whole fish and plenty of savory curries with the option to add tofu if you’re going meat-free. Don’t miss the lunch special (offered Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.), a true bargain at $7 for one of nine main dishes, mostly curries and a few noodle dishes, served with a spring roll.
Green Herb Thai Cuisine also offers online ordering for those nights when you want a tasty dinner on the table with minimum time and effort spent. Its hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.–9 p.m., Friday 11 a.m.–10 p.m., Saturday, noon–10 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
