Plowshare Farms Launches a 5-Part Dinner Series with Philly’s Best Chefs

Plowshare Farms has put together an impressive lineup of dinners for a five-part series, which begins later this month on Saturday, June 23, and runs through September.

With a focus on quality, culture and community, Plowshare Farms aims to celebrate all that is deliciously righteous in the local food scene during the owners’, Teddy and Faith Moynihan’s, first-ever on-farm dinner series. Each dinner will present guests with the opportunity to tour Plowshare’s land and meet the folks who grow the food, and, of course, to indulge in a delicious meal prepared by notable Philadelphia chefs. These are the kind of dinners that are sure to stay in your memory long after the evening is over!

“Terroir is having a well-deserved moment right now, as we begin to understand how the minerality of soil, microclimate and native microorganisms affect foods and wines of specific regions. But, to me, the most profound expression of terroir is not the flavors it creates, but the families it grows and the communities it sustains,” says Teddy Moynihan. “Growing our own food has given us a stronger connection to the land that supports us, as well as a deeper appreciation for the nourishment that food can offer. Our dinner series is an attempt to share that connection and appreciation with our guests. A dinner at Plowshare is not just a celebration of food, but of the soil that creates food, and the community that food sustains.”

Each dinner will include a welcome reception and a cocktail hour featuring passed hors d’oeuvres and farm-fresh drinks from Danny Childs of Slow Drinks. A former Plowshare farmhand, Danny creates shrubs, amari, cocktails and sodas that reflect the freshest flavors on the farm.

On Saturday, June 23, the cocktail hour will run from 4:30–5:30 p.m., with welcome remarks by Plowshare Farms’ owners and Chef Eli Collins of a.kitchen to follow. After the short walking tour of the farm, guests will dine on a four-course, family-style meal amidst the picturesque farm nestled in the hills of Bucks County, Pa.

In true farm-to-table fashion, the delightful cuisine will be composed of ingredients from Plowshare, many of the ingredients picked that very day. Plowshare’s grass-fed lamb and pastured pork will anchor the meal, but we suspect the vegetables will steal the show. A brief introduction and personal narratives will accompany each course, adding a depth to the meal that is rarely achieved during dining experiences. Wine pairings by Alba Vineyard of Warren Hills, New Jersey and beer from Free Will Brewing Company of Perkasie, Pennsylvania will complement this fine local fare.

Guests will round out the dinner near sunset with a selection of Pennsylvania Cheese Guild cheeses curated by local cheese specialist, Ann Karlen, with Plowshare Farms’ comb honey and iced-coffee service by Philly’s Rival Bros. Beyond the food and drink indulgence, these dinners will offer a special opportunity to relish in the camaraderie of a thriving local food scene and connect with a fun-loving and thoughtful community.

Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, as seating is limited.
