Summer means sipping on something delicious. And, if you’re like us, you’re looking for the next best thing to try and to fall in love with.
To save you some time on these warm days — and allow more time for enjoying — we’ve compiled some seasonal local ciders, beers and booze to try at our favorite haunts right now.
From roses to rosé, hibiscus to elderflower and all of the refreshing flavors in between, we’ve got you covered with these Pennsylvania-made craft beverages:
Brewery ARS Broga Beer
Broga Beer is Brewery ARS‘ latest IPA release. It’s an easy sipper at 6% ABV, hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo, which give the beer notes of tangerine with “a side of mindfulness and namaste,” according to the ARS folks. Grab a few cans, as this is a good one for enjoying in the sunshine or around a campfire at night. 1927-29 West Passyunk Ave., Philadelphia; (215) 960-5173
Hale & True Sail Away
Philly’s newest urban cidery, Hale & True, is already producing some of our favorite ciders this season! Sail Away, a juicy, fruity cider which rested on fresh mango puree, is one of them. Unlike so many mango-flavored or infused things, this one does not wallop you over the head with an over-the-top flavor. Instead, it shows surprising restraint, yielding subtle notes of mango and just a hint of sweetness. And at 6% ABV, it’s perfect for taking along in a growler wherever you go this summer! 613 S 7th St., Philadelphia; (267) 639-4334
Kurant Arosé
Kurant Cider set out to create a light and refreshing cider for the warmer months of the year, and Arosé was born. The team knew they wanted to include some iced tea qualities, so they infused the cider with a hint of organic gunpowder green tea, which lends a slightly tannic mouth feel and crisp finish. Organic dried hibiscus was also added to the mix for just a hint of floral character and a pretty, peachy hue. All of these flavors harmonize to create the perfect light and refreshing thirst-quencher. 410 E. Walnut St., Perkasie; Coming soon: 436 E Girard Ave., Philadelphia
Neshaminy Creek Keep it on the DL
This new session brew is dry hopped with Citra, Azacca and one of Neshaminy Creek Brewing‘s favorite new hops from the Southern Hemisphere, Kohatu. Each can is filled to the brim with tropical notes and bursting at the seams with stone fruit, mango, melon and citrus flavors and aromas. And at a highly drinkable 4.5% ABV, you’ll be crushing said cans all summer long. 909 Ray Ave., Croydon; (215) 458-7081
Philadelphia Distilling Bluecoat Gin Infused with Elderflower
Like Philadelphia Distilling‘s citrus-forward flagship Bluecoat American Dry Gin, Bluecoat Elderflower relies on the agricultural integrity of sourced ingredients and 100% organic botanicals. To make Bluecoat Elderflower, head distiller Aaron Selya infused organic elderflower into the classic Bluecoat formula through a maceration process, resulting in a light floral taste and fragrance. It mixes well in classic gin cocktails, with sparkling wines or sipped over ice. 25 E. Allen St., Philadelphia; (215) 671-0346
Thistle Finch Rose Vodka
Tröegs Crimson Pistil
What happens when you combine hops and hibiscus? Tröegs‘ 6.2% ABV summer seasonal: Crimson Pistil. Inside a can of this IPA, you’ll find a glorious tangle of “berry-like tang, sunset technicolor and sticky tropical notes.” Each sip gives way to a variety of flavors, including passion fruit, tart berry and grapefruit zest. 200 East Hershey Park Dr., Hershey; (717) 534-1297
