While the battle for which convenience store is king — Wawa or Sheetz — rages on among Pennsylvanians, each of these iconic PA brands keeps upping the ante for what amazingness they can provide to their legions of adoring fans and customers. Score one for Sheetz with the launch of its first craft beer, Project Coffee Hopz, a collaboration with Rusty Rail Brewing Company, of Mifflinburg, PA.
The brew’s subtle coffee flavors come from Sheetz Brothers Sumatra coffee beans, and the IPA also features light and floral notes, thanks to the balanced hop character.
“We are lucky to collaborate with Rusty Rail Brewing Company, a well-known brewery born in central Pennsylvania, to create this limited-edition craft beer,” said Ryan Sheetz, AVP of Brand at Sheetz. “We have worked for years to make beer available in our store locations across Pennsylvania and now, with beer in more than 140 stores across the state, we are excited to take the next step in this journey.”
Starting on May 21, 2019, this limited-edition coffee bean IPA will be available in 4-packs (retailing for $7.99) for a select time in 55 Sheetz stores across the state. Once the beer sells out, it’s gone for good. Project Coffee Hopz will make its public debut during a launch party on May 16, 2019, at the Sheetz on 4599 Library Road, in Bethel Park, PA. In addition to samples of the beer, the party will offer giveaways, including limited-edition Sheetz and Rusty Rail Brewing Company swag, such as pint glasses and koozies.
