This spring, festivals, conferences and other similar gatherings are being rescheduled or canceled. Many organizations are trying to keep up the spirit of connection that these events are meant to foster with online and virtual events. One example is the virtual “cheers” being organized by The Pink Boots Society‘s Philadelphia Chapter, a nonprofit with the mission to encourage and inspire women beer professionals to advance their careers through education. In place of the second annual Bold Women and Beer Festival, which was previously scheduled for May 16, 2020, and is now postponed, Philly’s Pink Boots members are inviting beer-lovers to celebrate the bold women in the local beer industry with an online toast on Saturday, May 16, at 5 p.m. ET.
“In early March, women from the Pink Boots Society gathered together to brew collaboration beers to celebrate women in the beer industry,” said Erin Wallace, co-founder of the Philadelphia Chapter of The Pink Boots Society. “Typically, these beers would be offered at the respective participating breweries and during the Bold Women and Beer Festival, where a portion of the sales would be donated to the Pink Boots Society. However, due to COVID-19, breweries were shut down and our second annual Bold Women and Beer Festival was postponed. This virtual ‘cheers’ is a way for us all to support and celebrate our badass women beer professionals and breweries.”
To get in on this shared experience from afar, pick up a 4-pack, 6-pack or growler of a local Pink Boots collaboration beer, or schedule a delivery from a local Pink Boots member brewery. On Saturday, May 16, take a photo or video of your beer, raised in a toast, and share the photo or video to social media using the hashtags #PinkBootsCheers and #BoldWomenandCheer.
