When PA strawberries show up at the farmers market each year, it’s one of the first moments that feels like summer is truly on its way. If you eat according to the season, it’s been awhile since you experienced the perfumed sweetness of a just-picked Pennsylvania strawberry. And even if you indulge in a package from the supermarket once in awhile in colder months, it cannot be denied that a berry that’s traveled from South America’s got nothing on the ones grown on local PA farms.
During strawberry season, we suggest scooping up as many pints of these beauties as you can, and finding clever ways to add them to dishes. This strawberry salsa recipe is one tasty way to do just that; after all, tomatoes won’t really be in season for another month or two! Mix up a double batch, and serve with Pretzel Crisps or tortilla chips, spoon over tacos, or use as a condiment with grilled meats!
