We’ve all been there: You’ve spent all your time and energy putting together a fabulous holiday feast, so that when it comes time for dessert, a package of store-bought cookies on a plate will have to do. And while there’s no shame in bowing out for the final course of the meal, preparing a homemade treat doesn’t have to be a whole song and dance. Savor Recipes has concocted three easy and elegant desserts that — get this — you can actually make ahead of time, so that when everyone’s ready for coffee and something sweet … voila! You can whip them out of the fridge like the kitchen magician that you are!
There’s Chocolate Mascarpone Mousse, with just five ingredients, that’s pretty much as simple as melting some chocolate and making whipped cream; Cheesecake Truffles, which look so lovely on a platter, and harness all of the flavors of this classic dessert in bite-sized packages; and Salted Caramel Panna Cotta, gourmet little puddings that prove that making caramel and using gelatin and skills that are totally within your reach. Each takes between 20 and 35 minutes to prepare and makes impressive, special finishing flourishes to the meal. We urge you to keep it local by choosing Pennsylvania dairy products, like PA cream cheese, PA milk and PA heavy cream, whenever possible!
